Research Focus Areas
The Borski laboratory studies the endocrinology and functional genomics of growth and metabolism, osmoregulation, and sex determination in fish model systems. Our research focuses on a variety of areas and interests, including:
- Mechanisms of adaption to rapid fluctuations in external osmolality, from individuals cells to animals as a whole
- Novel membrane actions of glucocorticoids – steroids which rapidly alter multiple physiological processes
- Effects of environmental stressors on sex determination in fishes
- Relationships between metabolic and stress hormones that maintain energy homeostasis and feeding behavior
